We are all good at CW in a certain way. I think in this post we should list some of the things we all do from time to time that help us get the most kills least deaths etc...
Bay5 (I consider this my best map)
-Bay5 is not a map for prokills or large exp grabs- storms are harder than usual but relatively easy. That being said, it is a map for getting a high K/D.
-Bay5 is ALL about situational awareness Thanks iScientist and others who have helped me with this - meaning, you HAVE to know what is going on everywhere
For example: There is a gunfight behind the truck...a grenade exploded by the crates...I hear footsteps on the metal containers-someone is getting up there
-Situational awareness is something that I continue to refine, this is just how I am doing it:
1) Increase the volume to the point where footsteps becomes clear
2) I try and look around every 3 seconds and every 2 seconds if I am in a high traffic area
3) I stop once in a while to hear the footsteps around me or the sound of a reloading gun or the throwing of the grenade
4) There is more things I do but these are the normal instinctual "moves" we all do
GUNS!!!!1 (The most important part of mastering Bay5)
My Ideal Bay5 guns:
1) P90 PRC tasked-this gun is the whole package, it has 1) big mag size- this is the gun's best feature because in Bay5, at multiple times you might find yourself in the middle of a gun fight involving multiple people, the high mag size can save you if you aim to the head 2) high fire rate can ensure that you "outkill" your enemy faster in a gunfight 3) mobility is good (In Bay5 mobility is key)
2) KEDR (tasked; I feel like untasked is better for headshots but the silencer that comes from the task is necessary to avoid map detection) - High RoF and a Head shot machine and High mobility makes this a deadly force
3) Vector (Untasked works just as good)- High RoF makes this gun absolutely deadly for those who can aim to the head. This is perhaps the most deadliest gun in Bay5 on the hands of those who can aim
4) Pdr (tasked) - High accuracy and a decent RoF makes this a good spray and pray guns. This gun is not made for winning in gunfights at the hot spots rather it is made for those who stayback and snipe those who are fighting
In Bay5, headshots are NECESSARY for ensuring a win- everyone comes to Bay5 with either a shotgun or a high RoF gun so aiming to the head gives you and advantage and since there are limited advantages regarding map location, you need to take every advantage you can get
Alright Olive, now I have the guns and the awareness, how do I win Deathmatch and pwn the noobs?
Olive's Tips:
1) Don't Scope in use SHIFT for accuracy. Shift is the button for walking in Contract Wars and pressing shift narrows the cross hairs giving you accuracy- "scoping" in is way too slow and you will die before you even scope in
2) Be prepared around every corner. Bay5, perhaps, has the most turns and crossroads leading to a potential conflict at every turn
3) How do you deal with shotgun nubs? Believe it or not, shotgun noobs are disadvantaged. That is why I did not include a shotgun in the best guns list. There are three types of shotgun noobs.
-The novice- these shotgun noobs are new to the concept of shotgunning. They are usually low levels using the mp133 and aim don't aim or if they do aim, they do not aim for the head. You deal with these guys like you would deal with anyone.
- The semi-masters- these shotgun noobs are learning to aim to the head and generally get the kills they aim for. They are dangerous in corridors and should never be faced head on. To deal with these guys, you have to navigate into the open where they generally have weak aiming skills and cannot aim in panic. These are the best places to tackle semi-masters
- The masters- these shotgun noobs are those who aim for the head, use the IZH and SPAS like they were born with it and devastate the map. To attack these guys I would utilize the recent range nerf that shotguns have had and attack these guys only in the distant portions of Bay5. I would also try and flank them. Shotgunners, I have noticed this through playing games from Call of Duty and Halo to Contract Wars and Gears of War, have a particular rythmn of killing. There is a certain "flow" that good shotgunners have. This flow mainly consists of linear movements and tank-esque battling. To beat these guys, you have to disturb that flow. Attack them from behind. Crouch and jump to confuse them and ALWAYS aim for the head
These tips to fight against shotgun noobs can be utilized on any shotgunner but I consolidated and isolated some of those tips on what is the most efficient way to deal with a shotgunner.
*Me calling people shotgun noobs is a joke, please don't take this seriously*
4) Limit exposure and the amount of ways you can be attacked. Do not stand in the middle of the map to shoot at some guy. Remember, there are going to be plenty of people available to shoot so do not get tempted and reveal your position in a part of the map where you can easily get shot down. Although it is relatively impossible to completely reduce your exposure in Bay5 due to the various outlets into spawns and camping sites, it is best if you limit your exposure.
5) Keep moving campers don't survive in Bay5. On the side note, area camping works wonders. Area camping is gridding out a section of the map and patrolling its borders and territory. IF you are great at killing quickly and efficiently and IF you are able to successfully navigate your territory as to not reveal your position all the time, than you can effectively secure your area and rack up tons of kills.
6) Getting killed by grenades just sucks. There is no hard and fast rule on how you deal with this. Regardless if you area camp or move around, grenades are going to be flying in the air. You cannot prevent them from landing near you. This is much of the reasons why prokills are so hard on Bay5, random grenades are inevitable. Although I am still trying to work on a strategy for these, what you could do is be near protection such as crates and containers majority of the times. This reduces the damage and possibilities of damage from grenade.
7) Reloading. There will be times when you are in the gun battle and you fail to kill the enemy and are forced to reload. You could be in one of the possible three situation.
-You are right beside your opponent (most often the case)- If they are two-three meters away, I would go for the knife. If you underestimate you knifing skills, then pull out your pistol. DO not attempt to reload primary, any skilled player can take you out in this process
-You are in medium range ~ 10 meters away, If your opponent is shooting, 1) get to the nearest cover *best option* 2) if you are good at using pistol then use it *better than dying without trying I guess* 3) reload your primary if your opponent too has stopped shooting and is out of ammo
- You are far away ~ +20 m. I suggest you either throw a grenade, or reload your primary. Knifing or using pistol is not the best option.
Furthermore, play your strengths. If you are good in close range combat, move closer as reloading primary, coming in to knife or shooting your pistol. If you are better when there is distance between you, you can back away in a similar fashion.
That is all I can think of now. Go on my young Padawans and conquer Bay5!
